What this is
Mode Labs is an independent studio building games and instruments that ask people to act together in public. The work begins in the feed, crosses into the physical world, and keeps the evidence of what happened.
The audience is not outside the work. A person becomes a Player when they answer a rule, complete a mission, return proof, or change the outcome for everyone else.
System map · Plain language
The system under the feed: its territory, laws, history, and named people.
Collective rules issued in public. Every attempt and outcome stays on file.
A separate daily instrument: one real-world mission, one proof, one deadline.
The material layer: citizenship, releases, and objects that carry the mark.
Operating standard
A Player should be able to see what was asked before the outcome is judged.
Watching can carry a transmission. Doing something is what puts a Player on the record.
Source transmissions, attempts, proofs, and outcomes remain linked wherever the record makes a claim.
A failed round is not deleted to protect the story. It is part of what the system learned.
The System can speak like a world. Dates, counts, actions, and evidence still have to be real.
