THE RECORD
On the twenty-seventh of January, beneath a room offered for booking, the traveler filed one word: Book. The next day, Log 29 carried a public commitment to begin writing one. Log 30 recorded several possible themes and the wish to choose perfectly. Log 31 fixed the world: fantasy, with horror.
On the second of February, the first chapter was being written. Seven days later, Log 40 carried the completion report. The traveler then asked how to deepen the story and its characters.
The archive records the distance from one word to one finished chapter as thirteen days. It does not convert that chapter into a finished book.
