FIELD OBSERVATION
Two people remember the sentence differently. You have the image. It proves the words were on a screen. It does not prove what came before them, what came after, whether the account was the same account, or whether the image contains everything your hands removed from its edges.
A second image includes the room, the time, and the messages around it. Beneath it is an exact source address. The argument changes. The image did not become more vivid. It became checkable.
MECHANISM
The Screenshot preserves appearance. The Receipt preserves provenance: source, context, time, capture method, and an unchanging fingerprint of the captured bytes. It cannot make a statement true. It can make the claim that the statement appeared falsifiable.
The distinction is already visible in the World. THE KHAN is supported by a native Discord capture bound to the exact message and the ratified Hall record. Its typography is not recreated and its source is not replaced by a caption. The capture can be inspected as the exhibit it claims to be.
The instrument remains incomplete. A Receipt can prove what entered its frame. It cannot restore what was deleted before the frame existed, and it cannot make a crop stop being a choice.
LAW
A Screenshot says: this appeared. A Receipt adds: here is where it belongs. Neither says: this is the whole truth.
