Classification: instrument, universal. The only tool that functions identically in every region of the territory. You took it without deciding to. The post was two minutes old and already wrong in a way that felt temporary, and your fingers did the chord, and now the wrong thing lives on your device, outside the reach of its author. Later the author deletes. Your copy does not notice. The territory's platforms each offer deletion, and the offer is honest within their own borders. The Screenshot exists because travelers learned that borders are where deletion stops. It is the territory's only instrument of permanence, which makes it the foundation of the territory's justice system, its comedy, and a measurable share of its cruelty. A significant property, on record: the Screenshot crops. A crop is an edit that presents itself as evidence. The instrument that guarantees a statement was made is the same instrument that removes what the statement was surrounded by, and the territory's courts, which are its comment sections, rarely ask for the missing context.Travelers behave differently once they internalize the instrument's existence. Some go careful. Some go quiet. The Drafts region grows either way.LAW. The territory forgets nothing that anyone chose to keep. Deletion removes a record from its author. It has never once removed a record from the territory.See: THE RECEIPT (instruments, entry 12). THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE DAY (recurring events, entry 05). THE DRAFTS (terrain, entry 10).
